If the dough is too sticky, add more flour.4Cover the dough and leave it to rise for one hour until it has doubled its size.5Divide the dough into 8 pieces. Pat them flat and round on a board until they are about 4 inches in diameter.6Fill each of the pieces of dough with a tablespoon of the plum jam, and carefully form round dumplings. Make sure that the seam is completely closed.7Place the dumplings on a board with a dishtowel covering them, and let them rest for 10 minutes.8Boil salted water in a large pot.9Add the dumplings to the pot. Depending on the size of the pot, only add about 4 at a time so they have space to rise.10Let them simmer for 20 minutes with the lid on. Do not take the lid off, as the dumplings will not rise properly.11When finished, remove the dumplings, and place them in a bowl.12Top the dumplings with poppy seeds and powdered sugar. Pour butter or vanilla sauce over the top.13Serve right away. Enjoy the delicious dumplings!Photo: Wikibooks Cookbook contributors · Wikimedia Commons · CC BY-SASource: Wikibooks Cookbook
